Jack H. Traylor (1933-1997) founded Traylor Electric Co., Inc. in Pompano Beach, FL in 1977 and incorporated in early 1978. His first employee, John Skidmore, was hired in July of that same year. Jack ran his company with the belief that if you worked hard and you were an honest man you would be successful in whatever you did in life. He believed that you not only "took" from the electrical industry but you also gave back. During the twenty years that he ran his business, Jack was greatly involved in educating young people joining the industry thru his participation in various electrical contracting organizations such as F.A.E.C., the Southeast Florida Builders Apprenticeship Board, and the Broward Construction Coalition for Code Enforcement, a county government committee. He became a State Certified Electrical Contractor in August of 1982 and was appointed to the Department of Professional Regulation Electrical Contractor Licensing Board for a four year term in March of 1986. He was reappointed for another term in May of 1992 and served as chairperson for two years.

Traylor Electric moved to its present location in Coconut Creek in 1982 and built an addition in 1985. During the early years, the company was heavily involved in the commercial end of the industry doing shopping centers, condos and large rental communities, working for Minto Builders and Oriole Homes, among others. Traylor Electric also became involved in doing large assisted living communities in Palm Beach County and the Vero Beach Area. Their involvement in the residential end began with Centex Homes in the early 80's and has continued to this day.

Upon Jack's death in 1997, his wife, Laurie, with the support of many people within the organization, took over the reins of the company and became President.

Ron Peters had joined Traylor Electric in 1993 and was soon put in charge of the field by Jack. Ron was named Vice- President in 2000. Ron's vision for the future of Traylor Electric has helped push the company toward the high end residential market where Traylor has become recognized as a leader in the industry. Traylor Electric was one of the first E.C.'s to become certified to design and install Lutron Lighting Systems. In 2003 and 2004 the company achieved Lutron Gold Level Awards and in 2005 and 2006 reached Platinum Level Awards.
